What Makes The Session Band Different?

For me, it’s the ability to have the best time performing, and make that enjoyment and fun infectious, so that the whole audience can join in and share the joy! It’s about involving the audience in that infectious fun, laughter and great sounding music from the moment you arrive as a band at a venue, to the time the lights come on at the end of the night (and beyond, actually, as last weekend’s wedding has proven! It’s all about singing Welsh songs acapella with the Bride and Groom, and all their friends and family, at the end of the night!) I remember going to see Coldplay in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff a few years back and thinking ‘How do they manage to create a personal, intimate atmosphere when there are 75,000 people here?!’; an incredible skill that we have really tried to build on throughout 2022. The basis of this is good friends, with the highest of standards, working together on the details of intricate vocal and instrumental parts, followed by the enjoyment and satisfaction of executing that hard work into a performance, that we then want everyone to join in with. You may be looking at other bands, wondering what sets them all apart. Perhaps they offer a free disco service, or performance area lighting (in my opinion, these should all be givens)… but the key is how does a band execute that performance, and engage their audience, whilst providing an excellent standard of musicianship?
